Cluj Never Sleeps - June 20-21 - An unpredictable journey in the European Youth Capital!
As you might have heard, this weekend, the city of Cluj-Napoca will give us the opportunity to experience an endless journey, which can be seen from several vantage points: moments bursting with energy, that can demonstrate us how relevant, interesting and diverse our culture can be! In other words, throughout the 20th and 21st of June, we will witness this joyful serie of events, commonly known as Cluj Never Sleeps!
We can catch a glimpse of this experience with the relaxing outdoor atmosphere of Day 15’s project - BEACH PARTY. The activity starts at 10 am, lasts until 10 pm, and, just as most of the events found during Cluj Never Sleeps, it provides a free entrance. It will take place at Grigorescu Beach, a forgotten area which was transformed by the Day 15 team, where the attendants can participate to a large variety of events, such as yoga, a water fight, tae-bo and book exchanges. The highlight of this day will be the concert sustained by our guests: Elena Mîndru with her newest project - Elena Mîndru Finnection, Rev, Le Minion and Szép András Trio. The sound will be energizing and, now and then, romanian traditional music will be intertwined with rhythms of jazz.
The journey will continue with the first outdoor play introduced by The National Theatre of Cluj, entitled The Extraterrestrial Clowns. This moment breathtakingly combines a classical music concert and a theatrical show. Starting with 10 pm, in Unirii Square, the public will be able to watch Ada Milea performing as one of the main characters on stage. We invite you to discover together the story of the clumsy and unwanted extraterrestrial clowns!
Following the performance, your attention is very likely to be caught by another cultural event that combines visual and electro-acoustic effects: The Fire Wheel. This specific event consists of a concert given by Iulia Merca, beginning with 11:30 pm and lasting until 12:30 am. Alternatively, actors from the Hungarian State Theatre, grouped as the band Loose Neckties Society, can be seen in the courtyard of the edifice, from 12 am until 1:30 am. Their eclectic style and method of presentation will certainly create a successful party.
Besides these fourteen projects financed by the local authorities, a handful of other independent projects will as well be established. As an example, the Street Music Festival aims to fill the Central Park with the tunes of street musicians. Therefore, they are offered the chance to create their strong artist identity, in a pleasant scenario.
Over 30 diverse events lay ahead in this sleepless weekend. Let’s enjoy the biggest cultural event from the European Youth Capital year and animate the city during these two days with either original plays and concerts or sports activities and salsa parties.
